This page describes lessons that I have learned as a rookie foster of puppies and dogs. It is full of mistakes I have made. So many mistakes. You know how, when you haven’t had enough sleep, and a situation takes you by surprise, and a tiny being that is a little bit fragile, definitely unaware of all the rules, and really really eager to chew things, is ruining your home? Mistakes will be made.
I have been fostering puppies and dogs for a local rescue group since 2018. My dog credentials when I started only included raising one good dog, and having a soft spot for needy critters. I also have a fenced-in back yard. And that’s it.
“Can you take a young puppy for a little while?” they asked.”They’re being transported up from Tennessee this Saturday.” And so it began.
